Works in this series belong to my language of matter. The surface is built up, hollowed out and incised, so that gesture is registered as relief rather than drawn on top of it. Against fields of deep black, pale scratches and buried fragments of colour surface and recede, letting trace and erasure coexist — a way of holding memory in the material itself.
